FELIX OSSA
In the 19th century, stereo photographs were publicly available for mass consumption. They were a “passive” way for people to acquire knowledge and entertain in areas like science, travel, humour, fiction and even erotic.
Due to the demand, photographers explored all kind of topics, even taking pictures of what they personally thought represented some ethnic groups. They fuelled “stereotypes” along the way, helping establish and continue with those clichés.
INSTALLATION
People read and listened to descriptions in English and Spanish, left by previous participants.
After reading and/or listening to the descriptions, participants observed the image described through the use of a stereo-viewer. Then, they were asked to leave their own description of the image shown.

ABOUT FELIX OSSA ▼
Felix Ossa was born in Medellín, Colombia. When he was 21 years old, he migrated to London, in the United Kingdom, where he became a citizen and lived for almost 10 years. He is currently living in Los Angeles,
in the United States of America.
Felix's works (performance-like), focus on identity and social perception of popular issues.
His collaborations and self-portraiture include photography, video, installation, and iBooks.
These works are based on personal awareness and the news on the television and social media. They have been constructed, in some cases, expanding from previous works or with the use of appropriated media, told again and orchestrated thanks to the collaboration of many people.
